How a Kashmir Cashmere Scarf is Made
From the high plateau of Ladakh, where Changthangi goats grow the world's finest undercoat at −40°C, to the handlooms of Srinagar where that fibre becomes cloth — every Pure Kashmir scarf carries the labour of many hands and the knowledge of five centuries.
The fibre is hand-combed each spring, spun into yarn by hand, woven on traditional pit looms over 4–7 days, and individually dyed in Srinagar before being verified by an independent textile testing laboratory.

Pashmina is the Kashmiri word for cashmere — specifically the fibre combed from the undercoat of the Changthangi goat, raised on the high-altitude plateau of Ladakh. All genuine pashmina is cashmere, but not all cashmere is pashmina. Most commercial cashmere comes from Chinese or Mongolian goats and is coarser (18–20+ microns). Pure Kashmir pashmina is 14–16 microns — the finest available anywhere in the world.

Every colour is available in three sizes. The Stole (70 × 200 cm / 27 × 79 in, ~100g) is the classic lightweight neck scarf. The Shawl (100 × 200 cm / 40 × 79 in, ~180g) is our most popular size — ideal as a travel wrap or full shoulder shawl. The Large Square Scarf (137 × 137 cm / 54 × 54 in, ~180g) is the most versatile for wrapping and draping in multiple styles.
Dry cleaning is the safest option. If you hand wash, use cold water with a small amount of baby shampoo or mild wool wash — never rub, only gently press and squeeze. Roll in a clean towel to remove excess water, then lay flat to dry away from direct heat or sunlight. Never wring, tumble dry, or hang wet. Store folded in a breathable cotton bag. With proper care, a cashmere scarf softens with every wash and lasts decades.
Yes, for most people. At 14–16 microns, Kashmir cashmere is fine enough not to trigger the itch response that coarser wools cause (which begins at around 30 microns). Our scarves are dyed with azo-free dyes, reducing chemical irritants. If you have a diagnosed lanolin allergy, cashmere is a different protein and is generally well-tolerated — though individual reactions vary.
